deepwell is built to be calm and private. It tracks your deep work so you can see your own patterns, and it is designed to collect as little as possible to do that. This page explains what is stored, why, and who can see it.

Using deepwell without an account

On iPhone you can use deepwell without creating an account. In that case your blocks, goal, and stats live only on your device and are never sent to us. An account is needed only for syncing across devices and the monthly Watermark letter. If you later create an account, the blocks on your device are uploaded to it.

What we collect

Account details you provide when you sign up: your email and name, plus an optional short bio and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only the basic profile information they share to create your account.

Your focus data: the blocks you commit, including their start and end times, length, the notes you write, any interruptions you record, and your daily goal.

How we use it

Your data is used only to run the app for you: to show your history, streaks, records, and stats, and to sync them across your devices. We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to build a profile of you.

Where it is stored

Your account and blocks live in a Postgres database, and your photo in a private storage bucket, both hosted by Supabase. Access is protected by row-level security, so only you, signed in to your own account, can read or change your data.

The monthly Watermark letter

To write your monthly letter, that month's blocks (your notes, times, and interruption causes) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which generates the summary. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models. The finished letter is stored only in your own account.

The weekly reflection

On iPhone, your weekly reflection is written entirely on your device using Apple's on-device model. This text never leaves your phone and is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Apple Health

If you choose to connect Apple Health on iPhone, deepwell writes your committed focus sessions as mindful minutes. deepwell only writes to Health; it never reads any of your health data.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate, anonymous usage and performance. They do not track you across other sites or identify you personally.

Who else is involved

The services that make deepwell work are Supabase (accounts and storage), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Anthropic (the monthly letter), and Google or Apple if you choose to sign in with them. Each only receives what it needs for its part.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. This permanently and immediately erases your account, all of your blocks, your letters, and your photo. There is no recovery.

Children

deepwell is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated to reflect the latest version.
